The Great Zimbabwe

Great Zimbabwe monument is a Unesco World Heritage Site. It is full of history and provides a perfect day out for visitors in Zimbabwe. It was the capital of the Kingdom of Zimbabwe during the country’s Late Iron Age. Great Zimbabwe served as a royal palace for the Zimbabwean monarch and was used as the seat of political power. One of its most prominent features are the walls, some of which were over five meters high and were constructed without mortar.  There are 200 such sites in southern Africa, such as Bumbusi in Zimbabwe and Manyikeni in Mozambique with monumental and mortarless walls but none as large and intact as those of Great Zimbabwe.
