IMPORTANT
The Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage through the Civil Registry Department began issuing e-passports on 18 January 2022.
The e-passport became operational as from 7 February 2022. As indicated in the Ministry`s statement of 13 December 2021, all valid machine-readable passports remain in use until expiry. Accordingly, the issuance of the e-passport does not in any way affect the validity of the machine-readable passport.
The Embassy will inform once the e-passport has been rolled out to Embassies, as its currently being processed in Zimbabwe only.

Requirements and Procedure for Passport Renewal
1.Requirements
- Original copy of current passport & photocopy;
- In case of a lost passport, an original police report and photocopy;
- Original copy of birth certificate and photocopy;
- Original copy of national I. D & photocopy;
- Two passport size photos (4.5 cm X 3.5 cm) with white background, visible ears and one should be putting on (wearing) dark colours;and
- ¥132.
Procedure
Kindly note that all applications are to be done in person.
After assisting one to fill-in the passport form and taking finger prints, the applicant is responsible for sending the application form to Zimbabwe for submission to the Passport Office.
All passports are processed in Zimbabwe.
Current Passport Fees: $120 (for 7 working days) and $220 (for 3 working days). Prices are in US Dollars.
2. Application for Baby’s Passport:
- Baby to be present for finger prints taking;
- Father’s original copies of Birth Certificate, National I. D and Passport, as well as photocopies;
- Baby’s two passport size photos (4.5 cm X 3.5 cm) with white background, visible ears and wearing dark colours;
- ¥132; and
- Father to complete Section 5 of the baby’s passport application form.
After assisting one to fill in the birth certificate and passport application forms, as well as taking finger prints, parents of the baby are responsible for sending the application forms to Zimbabwe for submission to the relevant offices.
N. B. The baby’s Zimbabwean Birth Certificate should be processed first and once issued; the normal passport application process should be followed.

The Embassy is open from Monday to Friday except on Zimbabwean and Chinese Public holidays.
